Following up on the quick selling Vokey 60° TVD (M Grind) Lob Wedge, Titleist has announced the availability of the matching Spin Milled 56° TVD (M Grind) Sand Wedge.  The new custom wedge will be available on Vokey.com beginning the week of June 23rd.  It’s a safe bet that the new wedge will sell as well as the original release, so if you don’t get one in the first 30 hours or so, you’re not getting one at all.

With 14° of bounce (12° effective) it features the same heel and toe relief of the 60° model.

Although nothing official has been posted on the site as of yet, but I think it’s safe to assume, the 56° model will see the same limited run (600) as the 60° model (although wouldn’t 560 be clever).  It’s also safe to assume that the price is going to hold steady at $250 (roughly the same as 2.5 non-”custom” Vokey wedges).

It’s also safe to assume that all of the custom options I covered in my post detailing the 60° model will also be available in the 56°.

I’m maintaining the stance I took with my original post:

1. This is highway robbery, and not necessarily the best way for Titleist to make money or put their wedges into the average golfer’s bag.
2. I’m envious of those who are actually putting these in their bags (although my inclination at this point is to purchase them as “investments”).

I’ve got nothing against Vokey wedges (in fact I own 3 of them – they are fantastic wedges), but if you want a true custom wedge fitting experience, check out the guys as Scratch Golf. On the other hand, if you’ve got $250 to burn, and want the illusion (or delusion) that Titleist is making a wedge just for you, by all means place an order, but do it quickly.
