I feel that it would never stay there as I would be bringing it to the green to clean the ball prior to my putt(s). @Ben : I use a alignment line drawn on with a Check-Go. I personally love the line and although you may have to place the ball/adjust it a few times on the green I find that it helps me tremendously.
