When your eyewear costs over $100, few things are worse than watching your glasses hit the ground because you bent over, leaned forward, or the miserable wind blew your cap clean off your head. Thankfully, the clever people over at AHEAD USA have a solution.

The company’s new X-Cap features a patented retractor cord that keeps your glasses securely attached to your headwear regardless of whether you’re wearing them, or have taken them off so you can drain that 12 footer. It doesn’t matter if you prefer to put your glasses on the brim, the top, or the back of your cap. The universal mounting system works with all types of glasses, and will keep your glasses safe and secure through your mightiest of hacks.

For overcast days, or other occasions when you won’t be needing your glasses, you can either tuck the retractor cords inside the brim, or remove them altogether (which is nice when you need to wash the cap). Ahead claims you won’t feel the retractors, so it’s probably just as easy to leave them in.

The $25.00 X-CAP is available in two styles; classic fit with a choice of structured or unstructured or AHEAD’s popular extreme unstructured fit. The classic fit comes in four colors: black, deep red, white and white/navy and the extreme is available in navy, gold or bone.

I’m partial to the unstructured in gold.

As a matter of practicality, I can see the X-Cap being an excellent choice for non-golfers with children. My buddy’s kids are always pulling at my glasses. A hat that can keep them from yanking them off my face and tossing them on the ground in one swift motion is a winner in my book.
